  • Participatory and viral communication campaign , with most elements developed through Internet, to prevent the consumption and production of materials. Its objectives:

    - Informing on recovery and revaluation of municipal waste.

    - As on the need to turn waste separation into a daily habit.

    The origin of the campaign will be a great kick-off event, which will call for the participation of those concerned, involved and the main addresses of the project, without forgetting the general public.

    We will invite the main metropolitan areas of Spain to Barcelona: Barcelona , Madrid community , Valencia , Santiago de Compostela , Bilbao , Seville , Zaragoza and the metropolitan areas of Porto and Lisbon (Portugal). We will also invite the ISR Instituto para la Sostenibilidad de los Recursos (Resources Sustainability Institute), with competence in Spain and Portugal, and close links in Europe, a reference in the field of waste and with an extensive network of participating cities.

    The day previous to the launch, a workshop will be held to introduce the campaign and the other activities that will be carried out in the project to the invited institutions and facilitate them the exchange of experiences.

    Virtual side of the campaign, digital and viral marketing :

    • Microsite : to convey the main message, generate empathy and traffic to the event. It will also report the project to people not attending.

    Digital video to be broadcast by local television stations, through the microsite, Youtube, etc.

    Special actions with street marketing tactics.

    Special attention will be given to the media : trying to obtain the greatest possible collaboration and dissemination of the objectives of the campaign in the traditional media (local, national and international).

  • Visits to waste treatment and recovery plants , as instruments of training and communication. The visits to the facilities will be led by environmental and waste experts educators.

    The objectives are to inform citizens on:

    - The life cycle of their waste.

    - The consequences of its generation.

    - The management and the operation of the treatment plants.

    - Sustainable habits.

    Visitors will have material for greater information (dossiers, maps, videos, etc..), which will be targeted at different audiences (school, general and technical).

    A minimum of 15 visits per month are planned. The average size of the groups will be between 10-30 people at most, in order to achieve the educational objectives of the activity and comply with the security of the plants.

    The groups will be given a small questionnaire to evaluate the quality of the activity, in which they may suggest modifications or new activities in relation to waste management.

  • Talks and meetings on waste management aimed at groups will be led by environmental and waste experts educators. Audiovisual material will be prepared to help the content to be understood. Ad hoc material will also be prepared and made available to those participating, who can be schools, universities, professional groups, etc. The kind of activities varies depending on the target.

    The objectives are the same as those of the tours.

    A minimum of two meetings per month are expected. The maximum number of participants for each activity will be 100 people. A short questionnaire for assessing the quality of the activity will be given to both the environmental educator and each of the participants, who may suggest changes or new activities in relation to waste management.

  • Awareness Program to encourage institutions in the reduction and proper waste management.

    Aimed at all metropolitan entities. However, its main addressee will be the CONFAVC and more than 300 neighborhood associations in the metropolitan area of Barcelona and its more than 60,000 members and associates.

  • Through the program, connection will be made with the entities, and they will be provided with information and training on waste management, so they might gain its true dimension and complexity. The aim is that they should join the programme and become active agents in the process of empowering and giving responsibility to citizens in the prevention and correct management of waste.

    The target audience of this program is the associated adult population over 35 years. However, beyond the associated population, and through the public activities organized by the associations, the program may reach a broad and diverse audience.

  • European technical seminar as a final point to the project, with European municipal waste management entities. The objective: to present the project and its results (fulfilment of objectives).

    The profile of the p articipants in the seminar will be people responsible for information and communication in European waste management municipal bodies and metropolitan areas. We will also invite the main metropolitan areas of Spain and the ISR Resources Sustainability Institute, which will have already taken part in the kick-off workshop on the launch of the communication campaign.

    The seminar will be developed in Barcelona, at the headquarters of the EMA, and will last for two days. T echnical visits to waste treatment plants will also be held to show all what has been explained throughout the project.
